#CommunityPrint Project - Halo Pavilion
My small contribution to the Halo Pavilion, which will be put up at 3D Meetup Sweden:
They are still actively seeking contributions to the #CommunityPrint. About 60% of the pieces for the structure have been claimed. Click here if you are interested in sending in some small holey toobs to Sweden
I did these in standard PLA at 10% concentric style infill and each one took about 10 hours of print time and 100 grams of filament. I used up most of what was left of a roll of plain white filament and then used the pink for two consecutive days of printing to achieve this result.
Caution, I found that shipping from the U.S. was extremely expensive. When I took these small tubes packaged into 2 small, tight boxes from the filaments used for the project to the UPS store near my office, they quoted me $340 plus tax for shipping. I took them to the post office instead and USPS got me taken care of with tracking information to send to 3DMSS for about $100. Not as bad but still pretty high. If you run too short on time for USPS slow service international (I was told 8-10 business days, even on Priority Mail) it may be better to find someone who is going, and ship your project to them to bring in carry on luggage as UPS is prohibitively expensive.
Of course I would be in error in posting this if I did not include some information about the creator of the design, Stefania Dinea. She has posted a lot of information here about the process she used to create the design for the Halo Pavilion concept, certainly a more involved project than downloading the .stl files to print a few pieces of it.
