My biggest project so far has been 3D printing ~10 dog tags and counting for my friends’ dogs.

This was a harder project than it may appear to be at first glance for a variety of reasons. It turns out that typesetting something that will be legible in raised format is hard and I had to use different fonts for different names to get them to all be readable. The longer names were also challenging to fit on the same template and preserve legibility.

These were done using one of the Design Apps inside MatterControl 2.0 and then printed on the same Monoprice V2 that I’ve been using for all the other projects.

I also used the Design Apps to make a keyring for myself with a unicorn on it and a bottle opener with a friend’s name on it. I don’t feel like those items came out as well and would probably need some tweaks to be able to make a ton of them the way that I have with the dog tags. Still, it’s worth playing around with the built in tools that are in MatterControl to see what you can do.
